The significance of blood in the Bible stretches from the Old Testament to the New, weaving a powerful tapestry of meaning and redemption. In both realms, blood represents life, sacrifice, and atonement. In the Old Testament, animal sacrifices served as temporary measures for the forgiveness of sins, foreshadowing the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus.

Now, let's dive into the profound power of Jesus' blood for believers. Firstly, it's crucial to note that the power of His blood is intended for those who have received salvation. In the New Testament, Hebrews 9:22 reminds us, "Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness." Thus, Jesus' blood serves as the ultimate atonement, offering forgiveness, redemption, and eternal life to those who place their faith in Him.

In our journey to understand the profound power of Jesus' blood, we will explore ONLY four fundamental components that have a deep impact on our daily lives as believers:

-Life and Purification: Leviticus 17:11 teaches us that “For the life of the body is in its blood. I have given you the blood on the altar to purify you, making you right with the LORD. Jesus' blood, shed for us, serves as the means of purification, making us right with the Lord. It is through His blood that purification becomes possible, and we are brought into alignment with God.

-Freedom: Revelation 1:5: “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood.” Jesus' blood has freed us from our sins. It is by His blood that we find liberation from the chains of sin, experiencing the freedom that comes from forgiveness and redemption.

-Justification and Salvation: Romans 5:9 “Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!” This emphasizes that we have been justified by His blood. Through His sacrifice, we are saved from God's righteous wrath. Jesus' blood serves as the means by which we are made right with God, sparing us from the consequences of sin, the wrath of God.

-The Speaking Blood: Hebrews 12:22-24 paints a vivid picture of the blood of Jesus:

.....and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. ~ Hebrews 12:22-24

What is the importance of the mention of Jesus' blood compared to Abel's?

In the story of Abel, when he was killed by his brother Cain, God's judgment fell upon Cain as God heard the cry of Abel's blood from the ground (Genesis 4:10). Therefore, blood has a VOICE.

The term "the blood of sprinkling" refers to the application of Jesus Christ's blood, which holds significance for our purification and atonement. Through His sacrifice on Earth, His blood cleanses and purifies our conscience from all sin when received through faith.

The mercy seat was a covering on the ark of the covenant. It was also the place where the blood from sin offerings for atonement was sprinkled each year to make amends for Israel. The high priest would enter the most holy place once a year and sprinkle the blood shed at the altar of sacrifice on the mercy seat in the presence of God.

Jesus became our eternal High Priest, foreshadowed by the ancient rituals. He consecrated a new and vibrant path to God, marked by His own blood shed upon the cross. Through this sacrifice, He boldly entered the very presence of God, securing everlasting redemption for us all. In righteousness, Jesus gave the ultimate gift to God for us all, and through the offering of himself he brings us near to God. That is why his shed blood, sprinkled (applied) speaks of better things than that of Abel’s!

THE BLOOD OF THE PASSOVER LAMB

The word Passover comes from the Hebrew word pesach. According to Wilson’s Old Testament Word Studies, one of its meanings is to ward off a blow.

On the night that God delivered Israel from Egyptian bondage, the blood of the passover was their token of God’s mercy and grace. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. ~ Exodus 12:13

God’s promised was to pass over the people when he saw the blood: For the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. ~ Exodus 12:23

In other words, God was promising to overshadow or guard the entryway where the blood was applied, to ward off the blow of the death angel.

Do you know who the destroyer is? The Hebrew word H7843 שָׁחַת (šāḥaṯ) can refer to a destroyer or a force of destruction, according to Strong's Concordance. This term has various possible meanings, which are:

  1. Destroyer: This term can refer to a being, agent, or force responsible for causing destruction, corruption, or ruin. It can encompass both human actions and divine judgment.

  2. Corrupt: It can denote an action or process of corrupting, spoiling, or causing decay or moral degradation.

  3. Mar: To mar means to damage, deface, or spoil something, making it less perfect or beautiful.

  4. Waster: A waster is someone or something that consumes or exhausts resources or brings about waste or devastation.

  5. Spoilers: Spoilers are individuals or groups that plunder, devastate, or bring ruin to a place or people.

  6. Battered: This can refer to something that has been physically or metaphorically battered, indicating damage or harm.

  7. Corrupters: Those who engage in activities that lead to corruption, decay, or moral decline.

In the context of Exodus 12, where God passed over the homes marked with the blood of the lamb, the term "destroyer" signifies the force or agent that carried out God's judgment by striking down the firstborn in the houses without the blood on the doorposts. It emphasizes the destructive aspect of the judgment and underscores the importance of the blood as a protective symbol.

Please note that the specific identity of the "destroyer" in this context is not provided in the biblical text, and it is understood as a manifestation of God's judgment rather than a distinct entity. The primary focus remains on God's sovereignty, His role as the divine judge, and His mercy in sparing those who followed His instructions.

Victory Over the Enemy Through the Precious Blood of Jesus

The Scriptures resound with the triumphant truth of how the precious blood of Jesus Christ secures our victory over the enemy, Satan. It is within the context of spiritual warfare that the profound significance of His blood as our ultimate defense becomes unmistakably clear:

The Power of the Blood:

-Revelation 12:11 (NIV) declares, "They triumphed over him [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb." The blood of Jesus stands as an invincible weapon against the adversary.

Resisting the Devil:

-James 4:7 (NIV) instructs, "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Our ability to resist the enemy is rooted in our submission to God through faith in the cleansing and redeeming blood of Jesus.

Applying the Redeeming Power of Jesus' Blood in Our Daily Lives

The redemptive power of Jesus' blood isn't confined to historical events; it's a living force we can apply to our daily lives. Here are ways we can harness this divine power, supported by relevant Scriptures:

Declaring the Blood's Protection Over Our Families:

-Exodus 12:13 (NIV) reminds us of the Passover's symbolism, where the blood of the lamb protected the Israelites. We can declare the blood of Jesus as our spiritual covering, pleading His protection over our families, both physically and spiritually.

In Times of Spiritual Attack or Temptation:

-Ephesians 6:16 (NIV) speaks of taking up "the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one." Faith in the cleansing and protecting power of Jesus' blood is our shield against spiritual attacks and temptations.

When Seeking God's Guidance and Strength:

-Hebrews 10:19 (NIV) encourages us, "Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus," we can boldly approach God's throne to seek guidance, wisdom, and strength for our daily challenges.

Covering Every Aspect of Our Lives:

-Colossians 3:17 (NIV) emphasizes, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Applying the blood of Jesus means involving Him in every facet of our lives.

I can best explain by sharing a personal story about pleading the blood of Jesus:

When my children were still young, my son Mark was misbehaving. I knelt down to his level in the hallway that connected our rooms to talk to him about what he did. I asked him gently, "Mark, why did you do that?" I then explained a better way he could have approached the issue.

I noticed that he was definitely not paying attention to anything I was saying. Instead, his attention was focused on something behind me, through a window in our living room. Despite my attempts to engage him in conversation, he remained still and unresponsive.

I became firmer in getting his attention. "Mark, I am talking to you. Why aren't you listening to me?" He replied, "There is a black man looking in the window." I immediately turned to see in the direction he was looking, but I saw nothing. I took a walk outside and there was no one to be found. My son wasn't describing a black man; he was simply using the best words he could find in his 5-year-old vocabulary to describe a demon looking into our house.

What puzzled me was that every night, I diligently plead the blood of Jesus' over our entire home. I would start at the front door, move to the back, and covered every window and door, from floor to ceiling. You see, during this phase of my life, I was a single parent raising three boys.

I had often wondered if a bad person would see me as an easy target. I had no husband to protect us, and no mother would ever leave her children if a bad man entered their home. Well, I wouldn't anyway. Therefore, when my pastor taught about the significance of pleading the blood of Jesus, its protective and speaking qualities, you can be sure I paid close attention. I believed I was well-prepared in this spiritual practice, but in that moment, the supernatural realm was manifesting itself in the midst of our daily lives and I was stumped as to why this demon was there.

I want to share that when such situations occurred, I would ask my boys descriptive questions and note down their responses. Additionally, I maintained a composed expression to encourage them to remember every detail without sensing any disbelief on my part. Children see things adults don't see. It would pay to really listen before judging. Take it to God.

Our day continued as usual, but I couldn't shake off this incident from my mind; it lingered throughout the day. You see, at that point, my understanding of the power of the blood of Jesus was mainly based on the experiences and teachings of others, much like you are now. I was in the midst of having my own personal encounter, and it felt unfamiliar and even frightening because delving into the supernatural can feel quite unnatural.

I tucked the boys into bed and then made my way to my own. I sat in the middle of the bed, with my Bible resting on my lap, though it remained closed. I found myself sitting there, replaying that unsettling moment in my mind, bombarded by a million questions. What had gone wrong? Why had this happened? What should I do next? All these thoughts pulled at me simultaneously, leaving me in a state of deep contemplation.

Sleep eluded me that night, and I'll be honest, I placed a knife under my pillow. Fear had gripped me, and as a single mother responsible for my precious children, my protective instincts kicked in. There was no way I was going to sleep peacefully or without a means to defend my family. It was then that I realized how futile a physical weapon was against a spiritual being, a demon. In that moment, God granted me the revelation I desperately needed.

I had the answer. I had been pleading the blood of Jesus over my house, as mentioned earlier, but where was this demon? It was OUTSIDE my home, LOOKING in through the window. It was OUTSIDE the bloodline! Let me tell you, when God revealed this to me, it was like opening a box of precious gold coins! So with a renewed excitement, faith and conviction, I got busy with my prayers!

This time when I pleaded the blood of Jesus over our home (which I rented, by the way- I wasn't the owner so don't get all legal on me, ok? God honored it.) I extended it to our entire yard and past our driveway. It went like this:

I pleaded the blood of Jesus over our house, around it, above it, and beneath it. I also pleaded the blood of Jesus over our backyard, extending it to the woods, and covering our side yards. Living between a junkyard and an ambulance center, I stretched the plea of the blood of Jesus over every blade of grass leading the fence line to the junkyard in one direction and over every blade of grass reaching the fence line to the concrete of the ambulance company's driveway in the other direction.

I went to bed with a sense of excitement, keeping the changes in my prayer to myself. Peaceful and filled with faith, I woke up the next day, and we resumed our usual work and school routines. I slept soundly, and everything seemed perfectly fine.

I didn't think about the incident again until the following day. To be honest, it slipped my mind.

While the boys were enjoying their afternoon snacks and working on their homework, Mark suddenly turned to me and said, "Mom, I saw that black man again." My heart skipped a beat, my jaw hung open in disbelief, and a sense of defeat washed over me. I quickly inquired, "Where did you see the black man?" Mark replied, "Outside."

Instead of bombarding Mark with a barrage of questions, I decided to take a different approach. I looked at Mark and gently suggested, "Mark, why don't you show Mommy exactly where you saw it?" Mark agreed with a nod, and he eagerly took my hand. Together, we ventured outside. Mark led me to the boundary of our property, stopping at the very edge where our fence met the cement driveway of the ambulance service next door. He pointed to the last blade of grass before the cement and explained, "It was standing right there."

My eyes widened in astonishment. My heart raced with excitement. My mouth fell open, and I burst into fits of laughter—laughter filled with sheer triumph. Do you understand? That thing couldn't cross the bloodline. It had to obey the authority of the spoken blood, rooted in faith and grounded in the Word of God. It had no choice but to yield to the power of the blood.

The blood of Jesus speaks. The blood of Jesus shields. While the specific words of Jesus' blood may remain unknown, one thing is certain: the power of JESUS' BLOOD is undeniable. Praying this protection over your family should never be disregarded or forsaken.

This is precisely why demons harbor a deep aversion to the song "There Is Power in the Blood." It's a song that resonates with a profound spiritual truth, one that the forces of darkness find unsettling and threatening. This hymn proclaims the unassailable authority and protection found in the blood of Jesus Christ, and it serves as a powerful reminder of the defeat they suffered at the cross. So, when you sing or declare, "There Is Power in the Blood," you're not just singing a song; you're wielding a spiritual weapon that sends tremors through the realm of darkness. It's a declaration of victory, a proclamation of freedom, and a testament to the conquering might of Jesus' blood!

The Word of God unequivocally declares that Jesus' blood speaks. It's a resounding truth, and we can anchor our faith in it because God, who inspired His Word, is utterly incapable of lying. Every word within the Scriptures holds profound significance. God's Word isn't just a collection of text; it's the very foundation of the universe, the creative force behind all existence, including our own. It is a boundless source of truth and power.

As you explore the Word of God, I encourage you to do so with fresh enthusiasm, recognizing the incredible treasure trove it contains. Dive into the pages of Scripture, seeking out verses that resonate with your specific needs and circumstances. When faced with adversity or attacks, boldly declare, "No weapon formed against me shall prosper!" and speak it with unwavering faith. In times of illness, cling to the promise, "By the stripes of Jesus, I am healed!" Cover these declarations in the powerful shield of Jesus' blood, for it is in this combination of faith, scripture, and the blood of Christ that we find unwavering strength and victory.

Consider the state of our world today, and let's plead the Blood of Jesus in a powerful act of covering these areas with the protective shield of Jesus' blood:

Join me in declaring, "I plead the Blood of Jesus over":

  • Myself, covering my spirit, soul, and body

  • My Children, safeguarding their spirit, soul, and body

  • My Spouse, protecting their spirit, soul, and body

  • Our Finances

  • Our Businesses

  • Our Jobs

  • Our Workplace and Colleagues

  • Our Food and Water

  • All our Sensory Experiences, including what we ingest, inject, feel, hear, see, taste, touch, and smell

  • Our Travel, whether for business or pleasure, including vacations

  • Our Vehicles and all individuals driving around us

  • Our Job sites, clients, and employees

I continue to declare: I cover myself and my family with the protective shield of Jesus Christ's blood, guarding us against the influence of 5G frequencies and all technological devices in our homes, cars, and workplaces. I invoke the blood of Jesus to establish a barrier between my family and any monitoring or anti-Christ spirits connected to the global darkness preceding the return of Jesus Christ.

Moreover, I plead the blood of Jesus to fortify us against the lies, manipulations, and deceitful spirits orchestrated by principalities and evil forces associated with the anti-Christ agenda. May the blood of Jesus serve as a strong defense, keeping us focused and shielding us from distractions that seek to divert us from the Spirit of Truth and our individual callings.

By pleading the blood of Jesus in these areas, you are covering your life and surroundings with His divine protection, guidance, and favor. Trust that His grace will go before you in all aspects of your existence.
