It’s Not Just How You Start—It’s How You Finish: The Zeal and Downfall of Jehu

Writer: BeTheFireBeTheFire

Two figures ride a wave of an American flag through stormy seas. One appears determined. Energetic, dramatic scene.

Many people start strong but don’t finish well. They are passionate, fierce, and unstoppable in their mission—but over time, something is left unfinished. This is the story of Jehu, the man who rode furiously into destiny but failed to remain consistent in obedience to God.

Jehu: The Warrior King Who Drove Like a Madman

One of the most striking descriptions of Jehu is found in 2 Kings 9:20:

"The driving is like that of Jehu son of Nimshi—he drives like a madman!"

If Jehu were alive today, we’d probably say he had a heavy foot on the gas pedal and zero patience for obstacles in his way. But this wasn’t just about chariot speed—it symbolized his unyielding, reckless zeal to carry out God’s judgment on the corrupt house of Ahab.

Jehu wasn’t hesitant. He charged into his calling with full force, bringing down some of the most wicked rulers in Israel’s history, including Jezebel and the house of Ahab. His name became synonymous with bold action, fearless execution, and divine justice.

But while he started strong, he didn’t finish well.

I Think This Is Relevant to Today…

We are seeing a modern-day Jehu complex—where many Christians are putting their hope in political figures to “clean house” rather than fully trusting in God’s justice.

So many people have a savior complex toward Donald Trump and the MAGA movement—and to be honest, he might even have one of himself.

  • Yes, some good appears to be done.

  • Yes, some battles seem to be won.

  • Yes, corruption is being exposed.

But is the job being finished? Are the idols truly being torn down?

Let’s look at the bigger picture.

Consider This in the Context of Jehu:

Jehu wiped out Baal worshipers but left other idols standing—idols that would later corrupt Israel all over again.

2 Kings 10:29 – "However, Jehu did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who had caused Israel to sin—the worship of the golden calves at Bethel and Dan."
2 Kings 10:31 – "Yet Jehu was not careful to follow the law of the Lord, the God of Israel, with all his heart. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam, which he had caused Israel to commit."

So let’s ask some hard questions about today:

  • Has Hollywood been stripped of its satanic influence? Or do demonic symbols, messages, and rituals still dominate music, movies, and entertainment?

  • Have all the Baal figures been destroyed? Or are they still proudly displayed in major cities worldwide?

  • Has child trafficking been fully eradicated? Or are the islands, groves, castles, and tunnels where the unimaginable takes place still standing?

  • Have the corrupt power structures truly been dismantled? Or are the same elites, billionaires, and secret societies, technological companies, a mega corporations still pulling the strings?

  • Has justice been served on those known for their crimes? Or are they still free, still protected, still running the show?

A bronze statue of a horned, winged beast sits on a throne, exuding a menacing aura. Fallen leaves surround it in a grand, columned hall.

No. They are still standing. They are still tolerated.

Is That the Picture God Gives Us?

It couldn’t be further from the truth.

When God brings judgment, it is absolute. He does not “partially” remove evil. He does not leave strongholds intact.

When God wiped out Sodom and Gomorrah, He didn’t leave any remnant of wickedness standing (Genesis 19:24-25).

When He sent Israel to conquer the Promised Land, they were told to completely destroy the enemy nations and their idols—but because they didn’t, those same idols later corrupted Israel (Deuteronomy 7:2-5).

When Jesus returns, He’s not coming to negotiate with wicked rulers—He’s coming to completely overthrow them (Revelation 19:11-16).

The Small Victories Are a Cover for the Bigger Darkness

What I see today is small victories being used to distract small minds.

The U.S. holds the power to dismantle these strongholds—to expose and eliminate every corrupt system that preys on children, exploits the innocent, and glorifies darkness. Yet, it refuses to do so. The same applies to the medical industry, where real healing is cast aside in favor of a multi-billion-dollar healthcare empire controlled by pharmaceutical giants more focused on profit than patient care. Safe, effective treatments are ignored, censored, or suppressed because they threaten the monopoly. Follow the money, and you’ll see the real agenda.

Yet it doesn’t. Why?

Silhouette of a person walking through a narrow, digital art-filled corridor. Bright, colorful screens decorate the walls, creating a futuristic vibe.

Because these victories are surface-level. They give people enough hope to keep them pacified, while the real power structures remain untouched.

  • The same wicked families still rule.

  • The same corrupt banking system still controls economies.

  • The same godless ideologies still shape culture.

  • The same perversions still flourish.

  • The same land grabs continues.

  • The same agencies raising millions that line their pockets and deny help to those that need it are flourishing, uh-hum, FEMA. Start there but the list is long.

Jehu did the same thing. He took down what was easy, but he left the system intact. And because he did, Israel still fell into idolatry.

Zeal Without Obedience Leads to Failure

Jehu is a warning that zeal is not enough. Passion, intensity, and action are powerful—but without consistency and complete surrender to God, they are wasted.

Romans 12:11 – "Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord."
Matthew 24:13 – "But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved."

It’s not just about exposing corruption. It’s about removing it completely.

It’s not just about challenging the system. It’s about tearing down the idols.

It’s not just about taking action. It’s about finishing the mission.

How Many of Us Are Like Jehu?

We drive hard, we charge forward, we throw down the things we see as evil. But what happens when our fire dims?

  • We fight battles for the Lord but don’t deal with the idols in our own hearts.

  • We call out corruption and wickedness but don’t let God purge our own inconsistencies.

  • We start on fire for God but allow distractions, compromises, or apathy to cool our passion.

Jehu started strong, but he didn’t finish well. We must.

Drive Like Jehu, Finish Like Paul

Jehu’s drive was legendary, but his legacy was incomplete.

Paul, on the other hand, started out zealous for the wrong things (persecuting Christians) but ended well, saying:

2 Timothy 4:7 – "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Jehu had the fire, but Paul had the faithfulness.

🔥 The question is—which one are you? 🔥
