Cross and crown over a bridge, symbolizing Jesus work and what he exchanged for us, surrounded by rainbow colors of glorious lights.

Every aspect of Jesus' work on the cross was a profound divine exchange, a pivotal part of the atonement. He willingly bore the weight of what we rightly deserved, and, in this divine transaction, He granted us the blessings and reconciliation that only He deserved.

Atonement refers to the reconciliation or mending of a broken relationship between God and humanity. It is the process or act by which sins or wrongdoing are forgiven and divine justice is satisfied. Jesus Christ's sacrificial death on the cross is considered the ultimate atonement, as it paid the price for humanity's sins, allowing believers to be reconciled with God and to receive forgiveness and salvation.

Atonement is closely related to the idea of the "Great Exchange." The Great Exchange often refers to the belief that through Jesus Christ's atoning sacrifice on the cross, there was a profound exchange or substitution. Jesus took upon Himself the sins of humanity, becoming sin for us, while in return, believers receive His righteousness and the forgiveness of sins.

This exchange is considered the central theme of the doctrine of atonement, and it reflects the idea of reconciliation and the satisfaction of divine justice through Christ's sacrifice. So, atonement can be viewed as an integral part of the Great Exchange theology.

Jesus' death on the cross exchanged:

Jesus became sin (2 Corinthians 5:21) so that man received righteousness.

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Jesus became a curse (Galatians 3:13-14) so that man received blessings.

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Jesus became poor (2 Corinthians 8:9) so that man received riches.

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Jesus became our substitute (1 Peter 2:24) so that man received healing.

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Jesus became the atonement for our sins (1 John 2:2) so that man received forgiveness.

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Jesus became the bridge to God (John 14:6) so that man received access to the Father.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus became the sacrificial lamb (John 1:29) so that man received redemption.

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Jesus became the victor over death (1 Corinthians 15:55-57) so that man received eternal life.

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through His sacrifice, Jesus exchanged our sin and its consequences for His righteousness and the abundant blessings of salvation.

These divine transactions are the heart of our Christian message, a remarkable journey from darkness to light, brokenness to wholeness, and separation to reconciliation. It is a testament to the transformative power of faith in the One who willingly exchanged His life for ours, bringing hope, salvation, and eternal joy to all who embrace Him.

The work of Jesus on the cross is complete, and all that's left for us is to accept what He accomplished. This means there will be moments in life when we'll face challenges that tempt us to believe in the opposite—such as sickness or poverty. In those times, we must stand firm and resist the temptation to accept these lies that contradict the profound truth of Jesus' death and resurrection.

I've provided the scriptures above for your convenience, allowing you to readily recall and reflect on God's truths. These verses are valuable for memorization, serving as a powerful response when faced with doubt or the adversary's whispers. You can confidently declare, "It is written..."
