Ezekiel and the Power of Symbolic Action: A Spiritual Wake-Up Call
The book of Ezekiel is profoundly mind-blowing—its intensity, depth, and vivid imagery always leave me in awe. If you haven’t read it yet, I urge you to take the time to dive in—it’s a masterpiece of prophetic drama that demands deep reflection.
In Ezekiel 12, God does something extraordinary. He commands Ezekiel to act as a living sign to the house of Israel (verse 6). But here’s the twist—Ezekiel isn’t merely delivering a message with words. Instead, he’s instructed to act out the very events God is about to bring upon His people. These dramatic, symbolic actions are like a divinely inspired theater, designed to grab attention and awaken a rebellious nation.
It begins like this: (Verses 1-7)
The word of the Lord came to me:
“Son of man, you are living among a rebellious house. They have eyes to see but do not see, and ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a rebellious house.
“Now you, son of man, get your bags ready for exile and go into exile in their sight during the day. You will go into exile from your place to another place while they watch; perhaps they will understand, though they are a rebellious house. During the day, bring out your bags like an exile’s bags while they look on. Then in the evening go out in their sight like those going into exile. As they watch, dig through the wall and take the bags out through it. And while they look on, lift the bags to your shoulder and take them out in the dark; cover your face so that you cannot see the land. For I have made you a sign to the house of Israel.”
So I did just as I was commanded. In the daytime I brought out my bags like an exile’s bags. In the evening I dug through the wall by hand; I took them out in the dark, carrying them on my shoulder in their sight.
So far we see here an intentional show, a drama, a theatric act done on purpose by God through Ezekiel. Lets continue: (Verses 8- 16)
In the morning the word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, hasn’t the house of Israel, that rebellious house, asked you, ‘What are you doing?’ Say to them, ‘This is what the Lord God says: This pronouncement concerns the prince in Jerusalem and the whole house of Israel living there. You are to say, ‘I am a sign for you. Just as I have done, it will be done to them; they will go into exile, into captivity.’ The prince who is among them will lift his bags to his shoulder in the dark and go out. They will dig through the wall to bring him out through it..... ... Then they will know that I am the Lord.”
And again, God uses Ezekiel to dramatize, play-act another prophetic act set for the stage of what God is about to do:
Ezekiel 12:17–20 depicts God commanding Ezekiel to eat his bread with trembling and drink his water with anxious shaking. This act symbolizes the fear and dread that will soon consume the people of Jerusalem. Ezekiel’s actions are a visual warning to the residents of the land—they will face anxiety and terror as their land is stripped of its resources and their cities are destroyed. The devastation will come as a consequence of the violence and sin of those who dwell there. Through this judgment, they will come to know that the Lord is God.
Ezekiel acts out a prophetic "mini-drama," physically demonstrating what will happen to Israel. God insists that the people know what’s coming before it happens.

The Pattern: God Reveals Before Acting
This pattern of revealing His plans before acting is something God repeats throughout scripture. He says in Amos 3:7, “For the Lord God does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.” God’s heart is for His people to understand and turn back to Him before judgment comes.
But as I studied this, I couldn’t help but notice a chilling parallel. The kingdom of darkness has a similar strategy, though twisted and deceptive. The enemy mimics God's patterns but for destruction rather than redemption.
Predictive Programming and the Kingdom of Darkness
The term predictive programming refers to the subtle embedding of future events into media and entertainment as a form of psychological preparation. It’s a tactic where the enemy “shows his hand” before acting. Why? In the dark spiritual realm, there is a rule: they must tell you what they are doing before they do it. When the events occur, the blame shifts to us for not resisting. It’s part of their ritual—a way to gain permission and power.
Consider the flood of media today—movies, TV shows, and games filled with themes of destruction, chaos, and moral decay: aliens, end-of-the-world scenarios, violence, horror, and death. Even popular shows like The Simpsons have eerily “predicted” real-world events. It’s as though these stories plant seeds, conditioning us to accept these outcompes as inevitable even if subconsciously.
And what do we do? We laugh, cry, and get entertained. But we rarely stop to disagree. Instead, our passive engagement gives these messages permission to take root in our collective consciousness.
The Power of Agreement
Scripture teaches us that agreement has incredible power—both for good and evil. Look at Genesis 11:6, where the people building the Tower of Babel unified in one purpose: “And the Lord said, ‘Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.’” Their unity was so powerful that God Himself intervened to disrupt their plans.
In contrast, Jesus reminds us of the power of agreement in prayer:“Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven” (Matthew 18:19).
When we unknowingly agree with the enemy’s plans through entertainment, media, or complacency, we give those plans life. But what if we flipped the script? What if we dismantled these agreements in the name of Jesus?

A Call to Action: Plead the Blood Over Media
Imagine this: instead of passively consuming media, we actively rebuke and dismantle its power. We can plead the blood of Jesus over every movie, show, and piece of content—past, present, and future. In 2 Corinthians 10:5, Paul reminds us to “destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.”
Prayer to Dismantle Darkness in Media
In the name of Jesus, we dismantle the power of every movie, show, cartoon, and media outlet that aligns with the kingdom of darkness.
We rebuke every agreement made through these channels that promote destruction, chaos, and death. By the power of the blood of Jesus, we cover all forms of darkness created to oppose God and His people. We plead the blood over their past plans, the plans in motion today, and those intended for future days.
We speak confusion into the camps of the enemy, just as at the Tower of Babel. We declare that their language becomes nothing but confusion from this moment forward. Let the fire of God fall upon their evil strategies, dismantling every agreement—whether knowingly or unknowingly made by believers or nonbelievers.
In Jesus’ name, we destroy the power of predictive programming—past, present, and future—and render it powerless. Lord, we release Your truth, Your light, and Your righteousness to reign over the hearts and minds of Your people. Let every lie be exposed, and may Your kingdom come in full authority.
Lord, redeem these platforms and transform their influence into vessels for truth and righteousness. In Jesus' name, I command that every movie ever made, every film in production, and every project in the works for the future be stripped of every demonic force. Confuse the powers of darkness against themselves, and let the fire of God surge into the enemy's camp to annihilate every evil plan and scheme. Lord God, take what has been tainted by sin and redeem it for Your good and glory.
In Jesus' name, we renounce and break every agreement with any movie, show, news media, comedy, or play that aligns with darkness or contradicts God's truth. We dismantle the powers of darkness operating behind governments and those using Hollywood and its celebrities as instruments of manipulation. We expose Hollywood’s deceptive agenda—a distraction designed to coax us into unknowingly aligning with evil plans under the guise of entertainment.
Lord, open our eyes to perceive this deception clearly, and grant us the discernment and courage to stand firm against it. May the radiant light of Christ penetrate every hidden scheme, rendering them powerless. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
As much as any celebrity may be at fault for allowing themselves to be controlled as puppets, we share responsibility when we sit back and passively let them influence and destroy our world. When we choose comfort and entertainment over action, we enable the very systems working against God’s purposes. It's time to rise up and do the hard, necessary work—casting down these strongholds, declaring God’s truth, and calling down His holy fire to destroy the plans of darkness. We cannot afford to remain idle; we must engage in prayer, intercession, and bold action to reclaim what has been lost.

Can We Change the Course?
Yes, we can. God has given us spiritual authority to resist the enemy. James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” And in Proverbs 18:21, we’re reminded, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” What we speak and agree with matters.
We cannot be passive. It’s not enough to say, "Well, that’s a terrible movie, so I’m not going to watch it." If it’s that bad, curse it from being viewed. In Jesus’ name, remove its influence over the land! Choosing to walk in purity and holiness by refusing to consume the darkness they dangle in front of us—like carrots to a hungry rabbit—is fantastic. But if it’s bad, SAY SO.
Faith is both an action and a word. Speak the outcome you want to see. Take the authority given to you in Christ and declare it over the situation.
Here’s an example of how to pray:
**"In the name of Jesus, I take authority over every movie, show, or piece of media that spreads darkness, deception, or destruction. I curse its influence and command it to lose its grip on the hearts and minds of people. I declare that it will not prosper, and its power will be dismantled. Lord, send Your fire to destroy its strongholds and uproot its agenda.
I declare purity, truth, and righteousness over the media and entertainment industries. May content that glorifies You and aligns with Your purposes rise up and thrive. I speak life over our land, that darkness will be pushed back and replaced with the light of Christ. Father, awaken Your people to take action, to pray, and to speak boldly against evil. Let Your kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen."**
Faith isn’t just avoidance; it’s active engagement with God’s power to bring change. Speak up, take authority, and trust that your words, aligned with His will, carry divine power.
Let us unite in prayer and action, taking authority over what we consume. May we no longer give life to the enemy’s plans but instead be a force for God’s kingdom, rebuking darkness and proclaiming truth.
The pattern is clear: God reveals, the enemy imitates, but we have the victory in Christ. Let’s take that victory seriously and live it out boldly!
