Man was created to surrender himself to a higher power than himself. We are naturally inclined to seek a higher purpose and connect with a higher power. This inclination is inherent in each of us, and we often feel a deep sense of longing to fulfill this inherent need.
Some people may not necessarily label themselves as religious or spiritual, yet they often feel a pull towards something larger than their own existence. In their pursuit of fulfillment, they might chase after material wealth, possessions, or particular ideologies, believing these can satisfy their inner void. However, without proper guidance or spiritual grounding, our quest can lead us astray, often without our awareness.
We must remain vigilant and recognize that the adversary of our faith frequently endeavors to lead us away from the righteous path, enticing us to substitute God with worldly possessions and ideologies. Even those who don't subscribe to a particular faith or religion may be unknowingly worshiping these substitutes, even if it's on a subconscious level. This universal longing for a higher purpose and connection underscores the spiritual dimension of human existence and highlights the importance of staying grounded in our faith.
Matthew 6:24 (NIV): "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other."
Romans 6:16 (NIV): "Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?"
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV): "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear."
As these verses illustrate, humans are inherently inclined to be mastered by something, whether it's God, worldly possessions, or life's circumstances. However, for Christians, placing their trust in God ensures they need never face defeat. With God as their master, no man or woman is ever powerless or defeated.
By choosing to be wholly devoted to God's will, a person can break free from the mastery of worldly temptations and circumstances. In surrendering to the Lord, they find strength and victory over anything that seeks to control them.
When you are wholly submitted to the will of God, you will find unwavering strength and triumph in moments of adversity.
Isaiah 41:10 (NIV): "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
James 4:7 (NIV): "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV): "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear."
In moments of sickness, mental strain, disappointment, or temptation, a deep connection with God's will ensures that you stand undefeated, relying on His strength and faithfulness.
You and I are not just conquerors; we are more than conquerors through Christ's love for us. Even in the face of sorrow, disappointment, and death, we stand undefeated. However, when we shift our focus away from Jesus, when we resist submitting to His Lordship and ownership, we gradually surrender control of our lives to circumstances. That's when sickness can take hold, and we become mastered by worldly things.
Romans 8:37 (NIV): "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."
Colossians 3:2 (NIV): "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV): "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
By keeping our focus on Christ and submitting to His guidance, we remain victorious over life's challenges and avoid being mastered by worldly circumstances.
The most profound healings often occur in our spirits rather than our bodies. When we share the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, we aim to reach the core of a person's being, helping them see that God remains Almighty, surpassing their sorrow, transcending their heartbreak, and overshadowing their circumstances. It's at this point that they realize they don't have to succumb to defeat. Jesus has equipped each of us with all the essential resources for a healthy and fulfilling life. Through Him, we have access to everything we need to live abundantly and victoriously.
Philippians 4:13 (NIV): "I can do all things through him who gives me strength."
John 10:10 (NIV): "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
Proverbs 23:7 (NIV): "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he."
Our thoughts are powerful, and what we believe and focus on can shape our reality. If we dwell on defeat, we'll experience defeat; if we fixate on discouragement, we'll find ourselves discouraged. You can't think pain without feeling pain. You can't think sickness without being sick. It's all interconnected. Therefore, by aligning our thoughts with faith, we can overcome any challenge and experience the fullness of life in Christ.
